Why it exists, how it works, and what it means to be part of it.
THE ORIGIN
Manhattanville hockey has been producing exceptional people since 2001. Players who went on to build careers in finance, law, medicine, business, education, and everything in between. Players who coach their kids on weekends and run companies during the week. Players who would drop everything to help a former teammate if they only knew how to find them.
The problem was the finding part.
There was no home for this community. No way to know what your 2007 linemate is building in Chicago right now. No way to ask your 2012 defensive partner for an introduction to his firm without it feeling like an imposition. No way to offer your expertise to the network without broadcasting it publicly to the world.
This network was built to solve that.
THE WAY THIS WORKS
You don't earn your way in by giving first. You join and you're in. The network works because Valiants help Valiants -- that's the culture, not a gate.
The matching board is anonymous-by-default: you post what you're working on, what you'd value, or what you can offer, and the network sees the substance and the era -- not your name. When another Valiant thinks they can help, they reach out and identify themselves first. You see who they are and choose whether to reply.
It's not a billboard. It's not a message board. It's a way for asks and offers to find each other without anyone broadcasting their life to the whole network.
Share what you're working on, what you'd value, or what you can offer. Class year and city visible. Name only when you choose.
When you reach out to another Valiant, you identify yourself. They see you, your class, your message -- and they choose whether to reply.
Once both Valiants reply, the conversation moves off-platform. We're the introduction; you take it from there.
WHO BELONGS HERE
Asks are as welcome as offers. There is no give-first gate. If you need help, post; if you can help, post -- both serve the network, and trust opens gradually for both.
You graduated recently and are figuring out what comes next. You do not have much to offer yet and that is completely fine. Show up, share what you can, and watch what comes back. The network rewards presence.
You are mid-career and building -- a company, a practice, a team, a reputation. You know things other Valiants need to know. You need things other Valiants can provide. This is exactly what the network is for.
You have been at this a while. You have seen things. You know people. Your offer is worth a lot to someone just starting out. Show up for your teammates the way you would have wanted someone to show up for you.
You are at an inflection point. Career change. Business decision. Major life transition. The Valiants network has people who have been exactly where you are. They will tell you the truth because that is what teammates do.
HONEST ABOUT WHAT THIS IS
LinkedIn is a broadcasting platform. You post and hope someone notices. This is a matching platform. You tell us what you need and we find the right person.
This is not a recruiter network. We do not take a cut of anything. No one is being paid to make these introductions. They happen because Valiants take care of Valiants.
This is not a news feed you scroll through and forget. It is a tool you use when you need something specific. Come back when something changes. Post a new offer when your situation changes. Update your needs when they evolve.
The network grows with you.
HOW WE HANDLE YOUR INFORMATION
When you join the network your email address is never shown publicly. Your profile shows your name, class year, hometown, and what you offer. Nothing else unless you choose to add it.
When someone requests an introduction through the network we send you an email asking if you are open to connecting. You say yes or you say nothing. If you say yes we send a warm introduction to both parties and you take it from there.
If you say nothing -- nothing happens. No pressure. No follow-up. No hard feelings.
You can update your offers and needs at any time. You can remove yourself from the network at any time. Email info@valiantsalumni.com and it is done.
